Eliminating the Industrial Classroom

• Classes held in workplaces, community spaces, or outdoors; not mainly in classrooms

• Varying class sizes for different types of classes

• Teachers drawn from workers in the field as much as possible (people who do the work) rather than ‘educators’ without real expertise

• School day may be much shorter but focused on real subjects

• Encourage intergenerational interactions and discussions to pass down wisdom

Real World Curriculum

• Focus on basics – reading, writing, math, history, civics

• Teach needed life skills

• Personal finance and investing

• Business basics

• Necessary skills like driving, exercise, wellness, diet

• Teach career skills (by aptitude and interest)

• Trades and home improvement

• Computers and technology

Encourage the arts – music, dance, art, design
