Construction
Combining 3D Printing and Modular Construction with Advanced Materials and Technologies to Build Beautiful, Long-lasting, Safe, and Healthy Homes and Commercial Buildings
BASIC DESIGN PRINCIPLES
Designs must work in Austin climate (summers with temps > 100, winters below freezing)
Integrate indoors and outdoors, bring nature into the design applying biomimetic principles
Beautiful and long-lasting designs incorporating Mediterranean style and architectural details
Leverage advanced construction technology in order to make beautiful and long lasting designs cost effective (3D printing / modular design, detailed mechanical designs)
Jevity should have a consistent theme and style while still allowing and supporting variation
Incorporate advanced management technologies for water, power, and communications
JEVITY COMMUNITY STYLE
The architectural style will feature a Mediterranean influence, incorporating arches, earth tones, tile roofs, and seamless indoor/outdoor living spaces. Designs will showcase interesting rooflines, moldings, and ornamental details, especially when 3D printing allows for cost-effective implementation. This style blends elements from Spanish, Italian, Greek, and Southwestern traditions, offering a mix of both traditional charm and modern aesthetics.
3D PRINTING
Foundation and slab forms precisely printed in hours
Vertical external and supporting walls (hollow walls with support) printed in one day for each story
Reduced labor (2 people) as well as reduced time and cost
Ability to print any curve and to print architectural detail and arches at little to no extra cost
Can only print limited overhangs
MODULAR / PANELIZED
Structured Insulated Panels (SIPs) are commonly used for roofs, intermediate floors, and non-bearing interior walls. They allow for easy and rapid assembly, although the installation process may require heavy equipment to position the panels accurately. SIPs are often combined with steel framing to enhance structural integrity. Some advanced SIP systems also integrate plumbing and electrical components directly into the panels, enabling them to plug together efficiently and streamline construction.
TRADITIONAL METHODS
•Foundation / slab pours
•Interior finishes and flooring
•Appliances and fixtures
